Accounts and aliases

Account aliases

An account alias is a name for one set of books. The default is Main Account, and you add more with Add Account (giving an Account Name). Aliases can be renamed and deleted, though deletion is refused while the alias is in use.

Use separate aliases when the data should not be mixed: a live account and a paper account, two brokers, or a funded account with different rules. Use one alias when it is all the same trading, because splitting it fragments every statistic.

Aliases appear in three other places:

  • The Accounts filter in the analysis filter bar, so you can analyze one set of books at a time.
  • Account Filters in Settings, which sets your default inclusion.
  • Bridge, which syncs its selected alias with the import screen so a desktop send lands where you expect.

The Accounts tab of your user profile shows what is actually in your data per account: round trips, fills, the date range covered, open positions, and the source (profile, trade log, or both). It also lets you set a zero-position marker, the date from which the books are known to be flat, and Mark flat on a specific open position.

Those markers matter more than they look. If your history starts mid-position, the product cannot know the position was opened before your data begins, and it will report open positions you closed years ago. The marker tells it where to start believing.
