Your first steps

A practical order of operations for the first few sessions.

A practical order of operations

You do not have to configure everything before you get value, but the order matters. Data without a plan is just a scoreboard.

Session one, about an hour.

  1. Open Strategy. Use Guided setup and answer only the questions you are sure about. Skip the rest.
  2. Give the strategy a Name, a Description, and an honest Experience level in Properties.
  3. Create two or three rules you actually intend to follow. Mark the non-negotiable ones Imperative and turn on Include in Checklist so they show up while you trade.
  4. Write one Vow. One sentence.
  5. Press Save, then Commit. Nothing gets scored until you commit.

Session two.

  1. Import a trade log from the Import screen, or install Bridge if your broker needs it.
  2. Open the day review for one trading day and review a single trade properly, start to finish.
  3. Look at the Dashboard once. Resist the urge to redesign your plan based on one day.

Session three.

  1. Write a short daily Process in Strategy. Three steps is enough. Make one of them mandatory.
  2. Run that process before your next session, and keep Rigor open while you trade.
  3. Log emotions and take one note per trade, even a bad note.

After two weeks of that, Gravitas and the discipline views will have enough evidence to tell you something you did not already know.

The common mistake

The most common failure mode is building an enormous strategy in one sitting: twenty rules, six check-ins, a fifteen step process. It looks thorough and it collapses in the first fast market.

Build small, commit, run it for a week, and let review tell you what is missing. A three rule plan you follow beats a twenty rule plan you resent.
