Filtering what you analyze

The analysis filter bar and what each control changes.

The analysis filter bar

Time-filtered screens carry a filter bar at the top. Collapsed it is a single icon (Open analysis filters); expanded it shows every control.

Everything on the screen respects these filters, which is the first thing to check when a number looks wrong. A dashboard that seems to be missing trades is usually a filter, not a data problem.

ControlWhat it does
Time range filterThe preset span the analysis covers
Range in viewThe explicit start and end dates, or Full range
SymbolsRestrict to selected symbols. All symbols when clear
AccountsRestrict to selected accounts. All accounts when clear
TagsRestrict by tag, in either Include or Exclude mode
SideAll, Long, or Short
DurationAll, Intraday, or Multiday
MoreAdditional filters when the bar is narrow

Each popover has a search box and a Clear action.

The tag mode switch is the one worth understanding. Include shows only trades carrying the selected tags. Exclude hides them. Excluding a tag such as anomaly is how you look at your normal trading without deleting the abnormal days.

Time range presets

The preset button offers fixed spans. All of them are anchored to United States Eastern time, because that is the session boundary that matters for equities and because calendar days measured in your local time would split sessions in half.

PresetSpan
NoneNo time filter
This weekFrom Eastern Monday at midnight through now
Week (ET)The same span, calculated in the analysis engine
Today (ET)The current Eastern calendar day
Selected (ET)The Eastern calendar day you selected in the calendar
7D, 1W, 2WRolling short windows
This monthSince the first day of the month, Eastern
30D, 60D, 90DRolling longer windows

There is also a custom input, where a value such as 3d applies an arbitrary number of days with Apply. The label then reads Custom range.

Selected (ET) is the preset that links the calendar to everything else: click a day in the calendar and the dashboards follow it.

One caution on short windows. Seven days of trading is not a sample. Judging a change to your process on a week of data is how good rules get abandoned. Use the short windows for review of specific sessions, and the 60 or 90 day windows for judging whether anything is actually improving.
