What the trainer is for and how to start a session.
Practice under pressure
The Trainer replays real market data and lets you trade it. Orders fill against the historical book and tape, so the session behaves like a session rather than like a chart you scroll through.
What it is for:
- Rehearsing a setup enough times that recognizing it stops requiring thought.
- Practicing exits, which is the part live trading gives you least opportunity to repeat.
- Building data when you have no trade log yet, so the review and insight parts of the product have something to work with.
- Working on a specific failure, once review has told you what it is.
What it is not: a backtester, and not a substitute for the emotional weight of real money. Nobody has ever felt in a simulator what they feel at four times normal size on a real position. Use it for skill, not for confidence.
The trainer can also be opened as a full standalone screen when you want the whole window for it.
Choosing a session
Select session offers three tabs.
Curated lists prepared scenarios, split into Featured and a wider Pool, plus Random pool scenario, which loads one without telling you the symbol first. The random option removes the bias that comes from knowing which stock you are about to trade.
My trades shows a calendar of your own trading days. Pick a day, pick a trade, and Replay puts you back into it so you can trade the same tape again and see whether you do anything different.
Shared with me lists trades other people shared with you, which you can replay the same way.
While a session loads you see the preparation stage it has reached, as it fetches metadata and replay data. Sessions are built from prepared market data, so if a session is unavailable check Market Session Generation in Settings under Data management.
Before starting, Bridge asks a question worth taking seriously: Training session or explore only? A Training session is a real attempt that counts. Explore only is looking around. Keeping those separate is what stops your practice statistics from being polluted by sessions where you were poking at the interface.
